Friendly staff but not a good service. They removed my good crown which was there for few years and put a new one ($1300) which fell out in 6 months and instead of putting a new one as per their rules, I was asked to get some surgery done. I instead travelled and got a new crown at another place without any surgery and it has been there for a year.They did a filling in another tooth a year back, filling came out.Keep setting you up for the next job.

Dr. Belen and his team are both friendly and informative to their patients. They ensure you are comfortable throughout the visit. Not only are they thorough in the services they provide, but they also inform their patients as what they are doing and the process entailed. If you are looking for a new dentist, you would make a good choice going with their team.

Have been going to San Mateo Dental for the last 5 years. Great team and excellent service. They have a CNC crown making machine so I got my crown made and put in on the same visit. Doc also fixed another tooth that required a half crown after I cracked it in a piece of a seed from a Peet’s Coffee scone….

Recently the top of my 14-year-old implant gave way. Dr. Belen and his cordial and expert staff went to work to order the special parts and tools needed to adapt the base of my old implant to new-technology top parts. A couple weeks later, Dr. Belen's skill proved particularly valuable during the final work. There is no substitute for the care and expertise that I experienced.

Absolutely in absolutely incredible experience. Thoughtful, caring, professional are words I use to describe everyone that rook care of me. They made it possible for me to go to the wedding and enjoy myself with a smile. What a great 1st experience. This was an emergency and the fit me in same day. Amazing!!!

I've been back to San Mateo Dental Care a few times since the beginning of COVID. I appreciate that Dr. Belen still looks out for the health and well-being of his patients and his staff by implementing appropriate protocols. His treatments and diagnosis continue to be right on. [Note: One time I waited too long and had to go to local dentist near my home for an emergency appointment. That was a lesson learned! I will be heeding the advice of Dr. Belen from now on and will continue to avail myself to his excellent treatment.]====Dr. Belen and staff have implemented effective protocols to reduce the risk of contracting COVID-19 in these trying times. In addition to the use of masks (except for the patient, when receiving care), gloves, goggles or face shields, frequent cleaning of surfaces, and separate doors for entry and exit, they have installed a negative pressure ventilation system in the operatory spaces that doesn't just ensure constant airflow, but also filters/traps bacteria and viruses before releasing the air outside. I was nervous at first going in for my first cleaning since the pandemic, but I was soon put at ease knowing that Dr. Belen and his staff implemented these protocols.I should also say that I drove hours from my home to the dental clinic for my appointment and back home again. I didn't give that a second thought though, because those hours on the road were an investment for my oral health.Dr. Belen and his staff truly care for the well-being of their patients and each other. My review from 2023: Did some deep cleaning and root planing today. Dr Vasco is the best! Her technique is one of a kind. I didn’t need any anesthesia. She was putting numbing cream on the scaling tools and it worked so well, that I fell asleep in the chair. No pain at all. Will do the other quadrants soon. Thank you Dr Vasco!My review from 2022: Excellent recommendations on what work needs to get done. They were not trying to upsell me on anything. My bite is so much better now and food no longer getting stuck. Very thorough exam. Thank you Dr. Belen.My review from 2021:After the covid lockdown, I was due for a dental appointment and mind you… I was so much under stress thinking about how safe it will be to go back to doctor and dental appointments. I wanted to know what safety precautions my dentist would have implemented as he started to open up again. I am very, very well pleased. Dr. Belen and staff have taken so many precautionary measures to make their patients safe. I had to ask before I went to my next visit. Aside from their usual OSHA measures, here are the things that they have added for covid protection that I had observed (and I was curiously asking too. I’m paranoid).1) They have implemented a new process where patients will wait in their automobiles and wait for a text from the office. The wait was not long at all.2) Then a staff asked the usual questions that medical/dental offices are required to ask (similar to the time of ebola).3) Then the same staff took my temperature and then escorted me directly to the dental chair. No more waiting room waits. I was asked to keep my mask on until it was time for my procedure. I also noticed that Dr. Belen and staff had double masks now and face shield.4) I was asked to rinse my mouth first with diluted hydrogen peroxide to reduce contaminants coming out of one’s mouth.5) Each room (opertory) is equipped with a hepa filter (the same filter that can be found in airplanes).6) But they did not stop there. Each opertory is also equipped with negative pressure system (the same system found in hospital settings). This was very important to me because I don’t think that circulating the air within the office via hepa filter is sufficient.7) Each opertory is also equipped with a high volume external vacuum that sits in front of the patient's face during procedure that suctions any aerosol coming out of one's mouth.8) Each opertory is also equipped with UV lighting. UV lighting helps disinfect every inch in the room in a matter of seconds and they do this after each patient leaves the room.9) Then they implemented a separate entrance and separate exit to make sure that patients do not run into each other.Amazing! My procedure went well as usual and I felt so comfortable knowing that all possible safety measures were taken by this dental office. My hats off to Dr. Belen and staff. I’ll see you at my next appointment.

I did not have a great experience with this practice. I chose them because they were in my dental insurance network. When I went to visit, they were rude, did not appreciate my point of view and ended up keeping me there for 2.5 hrs while they told me I had raging gingivitis and severe recession when in reality, it was not nearly as dire as they made it out to be. I did go back for a deep cleaning and they told me that because of this, my regular cleanings will now cost much more than the preventative cleanings my insurance company pays for. I tried to sign up for Invisalign. It took a week for me to get an answer from them. They never called back, I reached out to them at least five times. I ended up going to another practice that was much more responsive and caring.Their accounting practices are dubious. I recently received a statement of benefits report from my insurance. This dental office requested insurance coverage for procedures we never discussed! I’m still sorting this out….If you are looking for a dentist office to join, I would not use these guys..needless to say, I have moved on.

Incredible service and care. Crown from old dentist fell off and called them in the morning and they were able to squeeze me in that same morning for care. Saw Dr. Tim Loo and his staff (Emy, Han, Yvette), and they were all extremely experienced, efficient and caring. They were able to do an in depth assessment and make me a new crown that matched and fit perfectly and I was done that same morning. Dr. Loo really took time to explain all the details of what he was doing and the science of how it all worked. This place is top notch and they really care about their patients. Highly recommend!

Very impressed with Dr. Belen and his associate Hu. They have the most up to date dental machines and devices I have ever seen and made experienced I usually hated --like xrays--when I went to the dentist almost pleasant. My exam was through and Dr. Belen spent an amazing amount of time going over my treatment options and was highly informative. Also a clean and attractive office with a first rate staff.

Each performed in a professionally excellent manner and result with care and friendliness.Recently, I had a complicated dental implant which was also handled in an outstanding and pain free way. This visit was not as great as it usually is. I came away from my regular tooth cleaning appointment with sore gums and even my teeth ached. I had a substitute hygienist because my regular one, Erica, was sick (Totally understandable; thank you Erica for not coming in while you are sick). I'm very dentist-phobic and I explained this to substitute but she noticeably and acknowledged that she was hurting me, stopped, but was "ruff" again and again. She even put the polishing head on my gums, which ached long after the appointment. From now on, only Erica or Janet will be my hygienist.

Love Dr. Belen and his team! Been coming here for 27 years. He made me comfortable to go back to the dentist. Had trauma when I was a child and always had that fear. But Dr. Belen and crew always felt like they were family to one another and I could still see it to this day! Always made me feel comfortable and not scared. So much that I have been working in the orthodontic dental field myself for 21 years! Cheers to San Mateo Dental Care, thank you always!!

Dr. Belen has been my dentist for decades, for good reason. He is so skilled, stays up to date on new technology and methods and gives detailed attention to comfort throughout any procedure. I have a number of crowns and love the new 3D printer. What used to be a two appointment process with gooey impressions and lots of adjustments to lab manufactured crowns (in my mouth for bite) is now “one and done” with terrific fit. His staff is wonderful as well-kind, professional and problem-solving focused.
